CURRENT REQUESTS: Please review the Volunteer Request Board.
Following are volunteer
requests in support of Marshall Fire community efforts:
·
Eric Reed, a local business owner, Acme Fine
Goods in Louisville, opened the Marshall Fire Free Store at 375 McCaslin
Blvd. Volunteers are needed for organizing donations and to greet families. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f44a8ac2faafec25-mccaslin
·
We are looking for additional
volunteers (from our existing volunteer pool—Patient/Family and Grief
volunteers are welcome) to help at TRU Thrift. We expect to see an increase in
donations and will need help in the areas mentioned below. If you are interested
and able to help, contact Lynn at LynnMcCullough@trucare.org or 720-984-3425 at your earliest convenience.
o
Sorting donations to prepare them
for pricing—we need to fill our store with items that people can use most right
now: clothing, linens, household items, etc.
o
Unloading donations containers
(active outdoor job)
o
Stocking priced items out on the
sales floor and helping customers find items that they are looking for
o
Delivering donations from Giving
Room to various community partners (Boulder area)
o
Filling order requests—shop the
store to find items people have asked for, then notify the person/organization
that items are ready

A Precious Child is maintaining an Amazon Wish List of
supplies for people impacted by the Marshall Fire. Items can be collected and
dropped off or shipped directly to their facility at 7051 W. 118th
Ave, Broomfield, CO 80020.
·
We are keeping a list of people who
have space in their homes for people who are displaced. If you are aware of
anyone with that need, please contact Amanda Meier at amandameier@trucare.org, and we will make that connection.

COVID PROCEDURE UPDATES (as of 1.5.22)
MASKS:
·
Given the high transmissibility of
the Omicron variant, we now require the use of an N95 or KN95 AND
face shield during all patient/participant contact.
o
Volunteers can pick up KN95s (and face
shields) at the front desk at Trailridge – they will be in bags of 4, which is
enough for a month of visits (discard after one visit)
·
A well-fitting, medical-grade
face mask (often referred to as surgical, procedure, or isolation mask) is
the minimum requirement for all non-clinical settings. This includes but
is not limited to individual offices, communal office spaces, restrooms, TRU
Thrift, etc.
·
Cloth
masks are no longer sufficient in any circumstance.
REMOTE WORK
·
Hospice administrative staff are now
working remotely.
·
If you need to come in to pick up supplies
or to test, you are still able to do so but it is always good to let Volunteer
Services know so we can ensure you get what you need.
ISOLATION AND
QUARANTINE TIME:
·
We
are adopting the new CDC quarantine guidelines. This means that staff may return
to work 5 days after a positive COVID test if asymptomatic or if they have mild
symptoms that are improving. We will adopt this for volunteers as well.
However, you are ALWAYS the best judge of how you feel and if it is appropriate
to volunteer in person. We will respect your decision if you wish to quarantine
longer than 5 days. Let's keep communicating about your unique situations.

Our
COVID testing capabilities are challenged. Results through TRU are taking 3-4
days to come back. It is actually faster to go to one of the testing sites
around Boulder right now if you need a PCR test. The National Guard is
assisting at some of these sites. A volunteer went to Stazio this morning and
only waited 10 minutes for a test. Their turnaround for results is also faster
right now. Currently, TRU is only testing symptomatic or directly exposed
individuals by appointment. If you think you need to test at TRU, please reach
out to me to schedule an appointment.

Celebration: Remote. https://www.trucare.org/lightsoflife2022/
Lights of Life is a
time to memorialize and honor the lives of those we have lost and those in our
community affected by the recent Marshall fire. There will be readings, music, and
a candle-lighting ceremony for clients and the community we serve, as well as
time for reflection and connection.
