 TRU Volunteer News and Education

 

 

CURRENT REQUESTS: Please consider…         

• We are looking for additional volunteers (from our existing volunteer pool—Patient/Family and Grief volunteers are welcome) to help at TRU Thrift. We expect to see an increase in donations and will need help in the areas mentioned below. If you are interested and able to help, contact Lynn at LynnMcCullough@trucare.org or 720-984-3425 at your earliest convenience.
  1. Sorting donations to prepare them for pricing—we need to fill our store with items that people can use most right now: clothing, linens, household items, etc.
  2. Unloading donations containers (active outdoor job)
  3. Stocking priced items out on the sales floor and helping customers find items that they are looking for
  4. Delivering donations from Giving Room to various community partners (Boulder area)
  5. Filling order requests—shop the store to find items people have asked for, then notify the person/organization that items are ready
• A Precious Child is maintaining an Amazon Wish List of supplies for people impacted by the Marshall Fire. Items can be collected and dropped off or shipped directly to their facility at 7051 W. 118^th Ave, Broomfield, CO 80020.
• We are keeping a list of people who have space in their homes for people who are displaced. If you are aware of anyone with that need, please contact Amanda Meier at amandameier@trucare.org, and we will make that connection.

 

COVID PROCEDURE UPDATES (as of 1.3.22)

MASKS: 

• Given the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant, we now require the use of an N95 or KN95 AND face shield during all patient/participant contact. 
  1. Volunteers can pick up KN95s (and face shields) at the front desk at Trailridge – they will be in bags of 4, which is enough for a month of visits (discard after one visit)
• A well-fitting, medical-grade face mask (often referred to as surgical, procedure, or isolation mask) is the minimum requirement for all non-clinical settings. This includes but is not limited to individual offices, communal office spaces, restrooms, TRU Thrift, etc.
• Cloth masks are no longer sufficient in any circumstance. 

REMOTE WORK

• Hospice administrative staff are now working remotely. 
• If you need to come in to pick up supplies or to test, you are still able to do so but it is always good to let Volunteer Services know so we can ensure you get what you need. 

ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE TIME:

• We are aware that the CDC shortened the recommended Covid-19 isolation and quarantine time; however, TRU must wait for official guidance from CDPHE before changing any protocols.
• We expect further communication from CDPHE tomorrow, January 5, 2022. 
• Keep in mind, there could be different regulations/guidance for different business units (PACE, Landmark, hospice/pall).

1/22, 2022, Saturday, 3-5pm Lights of Life Celebration:

 Plans for this beautiful celebration remain in discussion regarding in-person vs remote options. Further information will be shared as soon as possible.

Lights of Life is a time to memorialize and honor the lives of those we have lost. There will be readings, music, a candle-lighting ceremony, and refreshments for the clients and community that we serve as well as time for reflection and connection.
