MOST VOLUNTEER CONNECTION ZOOM MEETINGS WILL COME TO AN END IN AUGUST 2021:
Until then, VC Zoom meetings are on Fridays 12:15pm-1:45pm. Zoom Code: 448 343 968
With life returning to more freedom and in-person volunteer opportunities, we will be discontinuing our weekly Friday Zoom meetings in August. There are few still scheduled later in the year which we hope to be held in person. Stay tuned!
We will continue to schedule monthly volunteer connection educational opportunities and events…
Our first in-person meeting will be on (Date Pending) Wednesday, August 11th (Date Pending), 9:00am-11am, for a social gathering and tour at Colorado Aromatics http://www.coloradoaromatics.com farm in Longmont, home to TRU volunteer George Wahl and his spouse, Cindy Jones, Ph.D., herb grower, educator, and formulator Sagescript Institute http://www.sagescript.com
Colorado Aromatics:
We named our farm Colorado Aromatics because of the aromatic herbs we grow here and use in our skin care line of the same name. We are located in a beautiful place in Colorado with a view of Longs and Meeker Peaks. We love living and working here. We use organic practices on our farm and are Certified Naturally Grown (CNG). CNG is a grass roots alternative to organic that is a great alternative for small farms. You can read about it in our blog here.
Lavender is one of our main crops, but we grow over 30 different herbs/vegetables that we use in skin care. Some of these include calendula, mint, cucumber, lemon balm, rose, raspberry leaf, and comfrey. Some of these we distill for aromatic waters. Others we extract using oil, water or alcohol. Because we use these herbs in our skin care products, we call it ‘Farm to Skin’. You can purchase our lavender products here.
We also have chickens on our farm and occasionally will host additional animals. Animals are important for naturally controlling pest insects and managing weeds. They are also vital to our soil health by providing manure.
“The nation that destroys its soil destroys itself.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

6/2 Wednesday: TRUvies Movie Night, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The Father
Zoom Code: 850 229 3682
Anthony is 80, mischievous, living defiantly alone and rejecting the caregivers that his daughter, Anne, encouragingly introduces. Yet help is also becoming a necessity for Anne; she cannot make daily visits anymore and Anthony's grip on reality is unravelling. As we experience the ebb and flow of his memory, how much of his own identity and past can Anthony cling to? How does Anne cope as she grieves the loss of her father, while he still lives and breathes before her? THE FATHER warmly embraces real life, through loving reflection upon the vibrant human condition; heart-breaking and uncompromisingly poignant - a movie that nestles in the truth of our own lives.
