7/10    TITLE: The Validation Method:  A Powerful Way to Enhance Communication with the Person with Dementia
BLURB: Validation® is a method of communicating based on an empathetic and holistic view of individuals.  Validation® guides us to “step into the shoes” of another human being and helps us to see the world through their eyes. The Validation® technique was created by Naomi Feil, of the Validation® Training Institute.
This presentation will provide:
  • An Overview of Validation® and Principles of the Method
  • Helping Techniques for Individuals in Each Stage
  • How to support, help & engage older adults who are disoriented or have dementia

TRU UPDATE: All, the TRU Wellness Team has partnered with Kaiser to offer the following Wellness Programs, titled Mindful Mondays.  The classes are designed to help combat stress and build resiliency during these challenging times.  Below are the topics – All are offered from 10 am to 11 am on Mondays.  If interested, click on the title for the link to register.  Note the webinar is limited on the number of participants – so don’t wait to sign up if you would like to attend.   

Coping with COVID-19 and Beyond – Monday – July 13th 10 – 11 am. Become informed and get resources for dealing with COVID-19 by learning tips to help you cope with uncertainty, address the stress response to life changes, gain control where you can, and build resilience.
Intro to Mindful Meditation – Monday – July 20th 10 – 11 am. Explore the union of mind and body as you learn meditation techniques in order to reduce stress and gain equilibrium.
Transformational Thinking – Monday – July 27th 10 – 11 am. Increase whole-body awareness and manage stress as you learn meditation and breathing techniques to expand your awareness and refine your mind.
