TRU VOLUNTEER UPDATE

Ø  When you have a moment, please update your Profile form so we can consider unique new volunteer opportunities. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ftTEbaW0n3RK3FgzmKM-p46ZUpbe8EL6

Ø   TRUvies: Wednesday, June 3, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Join us for this documentary movie series to be Zoomed the first Wednesday of every month. With Covid-19 parameters in place there will be limited patient contact for some time. We are hoping to show new volunteers the work hospice volunteers do through these films and allow them time to learn from our Volunteer Panel of experienced volunteers.
·         The films will feature the views of a range of experts in palliative care and will highlight the experiences of people
·         Our first film will be End Game, a goodhearted look at cutting-edge hospice care in San Francisco.  This is a story of a team of visionary doctors that try their best to make the departure as comfortable and peaceful as possible. While they make clear to the patients that they are going to die, they try to give them hope and peace. The charismatic Dr. BJ Miller, Executive Director of the Zen Hospice Center, stands out as he shares his personal story, how he went through his own grief after losing both of his legs and his left arm at the age of nineteen. He has so much strength and the way he shares his positive attitude with others is both heartwarming and inspiring. (Runtime 40minutes) (Please Notice the connection to the Volunteer Connection Meeting: 6/19: Personal Chat and Q&A - BJ Miller, former Executive Director of the Zen Hospice Project. Be inquisitive!)  Discussion will follow the film.

§  HELPFUL LINKS AND INFORMATION
Thank you to Jean Dempsey for sharing her personal video. In case you haven’t had the chance to hear this amazing story, check out Jean https://vimeo.com/128935845 .  Take away thoughts from this presentation: Don’t take life for granted and live every day to the fullest. We can all learn to re-frame negatives to the positive and finally, in any situation, what actions can you take to add ‘health to make it better?

§  TRU UPDATE: TRU is in the process of reorganizing space to accommodate need and ensure cost efficiency. The TRU Call Center, currently located at the Trailridge office will be relocated to the conference area in the TRU Grief Building.
